CARING FOR YOUR HAIR NATURALLY:

CARING FOR YOUR HAIR NATURALLY:

The basic structure of hair is the same in all races. It contains the outer layer referred to as the cuticle which is made up of 8 to 9 layers of keratin scales; microscopically, they appear like tiles on a roof because of their overlapping effect. The cortex the second layer is made up of protein fibers known as keratin chains; this is responsible for the elasticity, tone and hair colour.
The medullar channel or the heart of the hair is interestingly linked to the follicle( root of the hair). In general, the average life span of hair is between 3 to 7 years; it is therefore, perfectly normal to shed some hair every single day. Nutritional approach is a critical step as a healthy and balanced diet promotes our general well-being and optimizes our bodily function at its best. To maximize the hair growth cycle, it is important to eat properly, including the minimum of 5 portions of fruit and vegetables daily, carbohydrates containing high B complex- vitamins as they strengthen the hair shaft; this should constitute 60 to 65% of your diet. A diet that is deficient or too low in protein may result in unhealthy hair strands, thinning of hair and eventually leading to retardation in the growth cycle. It is therefore essential to include protein rich foods such as fish, poultry, pulses, avoiding those bonded with saturated fat.
The protein content should be between 25 to 30% your diet and good fat making up the remaining percentage. It is advisable to drink at least 8 glasses of clean water daily as it helps to flush out any accumulated toxins in the system. Moderate exposure to the sun is beneficial as it stimulates normal sebum( oil glad) production on the scalp. A regular, good sound sleep, about 6 to 8 hours is highly recommended. It is also important to exercise and learning to relax as it helps with stress management, boosting the immune system resulting in overall good hair growth. In addition to adequate nutrition, if you want to acquire and maintain healthy hair, you are in good hands with FLP’s high quality range of nutritional food supplements and hair care products patience and consistency is very important for optimum results.
The consumption of any of the aloe vera based drinks especially Aloe vera Gel or Aloe Berry Nectar is highly recommended as they  contain a wealth of nutrients. Super Artic Omega 3 fish which contains essential fatty acids helps to feed and condition the scalp, keeping it strong, shining and healthy. Bee pollen which is often referred to as the world’s most complete food contains over 96 different nutrients including organic sulphur; its beneficial effect has been known for centuries for enhancing glossy, glowing hair, Gingko plus combined with Bee pollen have been found to reduce the rate at which hair goes gray( I personally call it white). This may be due to its ant-stress effect apart from the nutritional aspect. B12 plus combined with Absorbent-C (antioxidant) helps to prevent iron deficiency, one of the primary causes of hair loss. A-Beta CarE containing beta-carotene and vitamin E, a very potent antioxidant combined with selenium, a rich mineral that keeps the skin and hair supple and elastic. Nature-min is a multi-mineral supplement which also contains the antioxidant, selenium; it is very important for growth and healthy hair structure.
To keep the hair further in good condition, it is important use the following external hair care products which would enhance the general outlook of your hair. For many centuries, Native Americans, Africans and Indians have been using Aloe vera to promote healthy hair and prevent hair  and prevent hair loss. In some parts of East Africa, the pulp from the locally grown Aloe vera plant is often blended with other herbal mixtures used as hair treatment. Aloe vera products ensures long lasting nourishment right up to the cellular level though differ from company to company according to the principal ingredient. Remember keeping an eye to your hair is very important.

SUPPLEMENTATION THE WAY FORWARD IN:

 SUPPLEMENTATION THE WAY FORWARD IN:

The management of Autism

There is a growing body of evidence indicating that supplementation with high quality food supplement can help in the management of children with autism. Autism can be described as a condition involving abnormality of brain development and behaviour manifesting itself before the age of four. It is often characterised by impairment in social interaction, communication skills, restricted and repetitive behaviour.
Autistic children are known to have rod dysfunction. Rods are the light sensitive receptors that are responsible for night vision. This explains why they are unable to look at you straight in eye and also find difficult to connect what they see and hear. Nutritionally, many autistic children are severely affected due to poor to poor digestion and absorption of nutrients, compromising  the immune system.
A deficiency in essential fatty acids(EFAs) is a common phenomenon. It is therefore important to supplement with EFAs containing eicosanoid pentanoic  acids (EPA) and decosahexenoic acid ( DHA) as they both help to reduce the activity of the defective enzyme and overall improvement in behaviour pattern. Apart from other nutritional deficiencies, hyperactivity in autistic children has been linked with sugar imbalance resulting in reduced brain function such as the ability to focus, concentrate and unsociable behaviour. Medically, many are prolonged courses of broad spectrum antibiotics for ear or other respiratory infections during their first year before correct diagnosis of autism. Such treatment often destabilises the population of normal gut floral by killing both the good and bad bacteria, weakening the intestinal membrane, resulting in a condition referred to as `leaky gut syndrome’’. This may cause retardation in growth rate.

FOODS TO AVOID

Refined carbohydrates( junk or fast foods) as they contain little or no fine, sweets, sodas, sugar loaded juices, food enhancers such as mono sodium glutamate (MSG) containing excito-toxin which can trigger seizures. Additives and artificial(the ``E’’ numbers) food colouring are also among the list of the culprits to be avoided. Also avoid food containing gluten (wheat) and casein found in milk protein. Drinking of water should be encouraged apart from diluted natural fruit juices. Consumption of fruits, especially the colourful ones and vegetables should be part of the diet.
Autistic children are sensitive to environmental toxins such as cadmium; lead, mercury etc., it is therefore important to limit their exposure to them. The use of aluminium sufuria for cooking should be avoided. In conclusion health should be considered as number one in life.

PROSTATE CANCER!

PROSTATE CANCER!
A Time-Bomb in Men’s plumbing:
The number of men have lost their lives through prostate cancer has been on the increase of late. This trend has been of great concern to many enlightened men for two principal reasons. First there is no hope at the moment from medical science that this trend of untimely death could be reduced in the near future. Secondly, most of the victims are responsible members of the society who have risen in their respective calling to a height where their contribution and experience will be of immense value. But sadly enough, many of such calibre had bowed to the blow of this killer cancer.
The earlier medical examination is very vital although men’s according to the research are very poor in attending the hospitals when sick compared to the women’s.

 A UNIVERSAL SCOURGE

In United States cancer of the prostate is the commonest diagnosed male malignancy (excluding skin cancers). Prostate cancer is a silent killer. It develops very slowly and steadily. Moreover, prostate disorders not only produce distressing and sometimes embarrassing symptoms, their treatment sometimes cause that most dreaded condition- IMPOTENCE

ALARMING STATISTIC!

The world Organisation (WHO) estimates that 80% of men will eventually need treatment for problems. One in three will need an operation. No wonder the prostate has been described as’ ‘a time bomb ticking away deep in the plumbing of every male “and there has been talk of ``prostate disaster’”

ASTONISHING INGNORANCE:

The alarming state of affairs as regards prostate disorders not withstanding, only a very small percentage of men know what prostate gland is furthermore, most men do know the available means of investigating prostate problems, various treatment options, their possible complication and last but not the least, possible measures that can be taken to prevent prostate disorders. To solve the the following problems some products as aloe vera gel, forever multi-maca, forever pro6 , A-beta care and nature min. REASONS WHY THERE IS STIGMA RELATED TO HIV AND AIDS?

REASONS WHY THERE IS STIGMA RELATED TO HIV AND AIDS?

The fact that HIV/AIDS is a relatively new disease also contributes to stigma attached to it. The fear surrounding the emerging epidemic in 1980’s is still fresh in many people’s minds. At that time very little was known about the transmissibility of virus which made people scared of those infected due to fear of contagion.

CAUSES OF HIV/AIDS

Morality-view that people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAs) are sinners, promiscuous, unfaithful, `` sleeping around. ``people’s beliefs-about pollution, contagion, impurity, fear of infection, fear of unknown , fear of death and ignorance. Lack of knowledge and misconception makes people fear physical contact with PLHAs. Inferiority and superiority complex. Gender and poverty where by woman and poor people are more stigmatized than men or rich people. In other words women are forced by poverty to do transactional or commercial sex where by poor people who are malnourished are stigmatised by looks.

FORMS OF HIV/AIDS RELATED STIGMA AND DISRIMINATION

The name-calling, scapegoating, figer pointing, teasing, ridicule, labelling, blaming, shaming, judging, backbiting, rumors, gossiping, making assumption, suspecting, neglecting, rejecting, isolating and physical violence. Stigmatisation can cause effects like shame, denial, self-isolation, loneliness, neglect, loss of hope, depression, death ,alcoholism, isolation and self-rejection- giving up on one self. Self-blame, self-pity and self –hatred.Withrawal from public activities, becoming very quiet, commit suicide or start thinking about suicide .The story of epidemic of fear, stigmatization and discrimination has undermined the ability of individuals. Families and societies to protect themselves and provide support and reassurances to those affected. This hinders in no small way efforts at stemming the epidemic. It complicates decision about testing, disclosure of status and ability to negotiate prevention behaviours including use of family planning services. AIDS related stigma has had a profound effect on the epidemic’s course .The WHO cites fear of stigma and discrimination as the main reasons why people are reluctant to be tested to disclose HIV status or to take antiretroviral drugs.  These factors all contribute to expansion of epidemic as reluctance to determine HIV status or discuss or practise safe sex means that are more likely to infect others and higher number of AIDS related to deaths. An unwillingness to take an HIV test means that people are diagnosed late when virus has already progressed to AIDS making treatment less effective and causing early death. In conclusion self-stigma and fear of a negative community reaction can hinder efforts to address the AIDS epidemic by perpetuating the wall of silence and shame surrounding the epidemic.

STOMACH AND DUODENAL ULCERS

STOMACH AND DUODENAL ULCERS

A stomach ulcers is a chronic wound in the lining or duodenum (the upper part of the small intestines) caused by too much acid or a bacteria known as hyplori. The stomach`s acid`s then continue to eat a way the stomach lining making the wounds bigger. Once a wound opens it is very difficult to heal it unless a person changes their eating and living habits.

SYMPTOMS

The stomach is located just below the ribs in the upper centre of abdomen. The duodenum starts a bit to the right of the stomach. The stomachs are indigestion and constipation, aversion to food, nausea after meals, vomiting of blood. If the ulcer forms lower down, inside the duodenum, the pain starts 1or 2 hours after eating. Pain is usually worse lying down or the night. With gastric ulcers, the food does not get digested, and therefore the person becomes thin and worn out. But with duodenal ulcers, the change takes a long time to show.
If the ulcer is severe, it can cause vomiting, sometimes with fresh blood or with digested blood that looks like coffee grounds. Stool with blood forms an ulcer are usually black like tar. Even when the disease is not in severe state, the stool comes out in small balls and a dark colour. Some ulcers are painless or`` silent’’, and the first sign is blood in vomit or black, sticky stools. This is a medical emergency. The person can bleed to death.

CAUSES

Food not chewed well, too many rich or fatty foods, stress or an infection, such as the bacteria hyplori, may cause the stomach not to be able to digest food well. That undigested food goes to duodenum or upper intestines therefore the digestive fluids and bile from the liver and pancreas try to accomplish the task  of digestion. But if the food is not completely digested here either, then it becomes spoiled and acidic poisons(toxins) are created. If the acid-alkaline balance of the digestive system is lost, then these extremely acidic fluids eat away the stomach lining.Incase of the following problems occurs you can take two or three tablespoons of honey mixed with water or diluted milk daily. Chillies aid digestion, improves circulation, and stops bleeding from ulcers.Chillies help heal ulcers by stimulating the growth of new mucus membranes. Boiled green bananas(plantain) and raw cabbage are good vegetables for ulcers.Coconut millk is also very therapeutic to the gastro-intestinal tract. The lauric acid in coconut kills hyplori, a bacteria that can cause stomach ulcers.

PECTIN FOR YOUR HEALTH

PECTIN FOR YOUR HEALTH
Pectin is one of the best fibres consumed to remove the toxin which are dangerous to our health. The pectin fibre dissolves in water since many foods we eat are stripped of nutrients through refining and process or contaminated with pesticides, fungicides and preservatives .Pectin is the right fibre because it removes heavy metals from the body. Heavy metal toxins are something that affects person with AIDS, cancer and other chronic diseases. Remember that when foods lack fibre, they remain in colon for longer periods of time, increasing the risk of cancer. In addition, excess fats cause the gall bladder to generate acids that, when accumulated, can become carcinogenic. It is more advisable to take food with lower fats and higher fibre. The colon prefers fibres that move quickly insoluble like those found in raw carrot “fly” through the intestinal system carrying with them any toxic components in their path. Pectin draws these toxins out of blood thus lowering cholesterol.
The pectin fibre is more beneficial to diabetic people in controlling blood glucose levels. Remember that blood glucose levels are tightly controlled by insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas. Insulin is released from the pancreas to normalize the glucose level. Diabetes can be controlled with an adequate diet regimen in which a lot of fibre is included such as cactus leaves, carrots, whole wheat, fruits and vegetables in general. Interesting thing is that pectin is near your door that is passion fruit, bananas, pears, apples, plums, and rinds of fruits, carrots, beets, cabbage and lady’s fingers okra. In conclusion our health is dependant on a cooperative relationship between our own body and friendly intestinal flora. Many illness are related to an imbalance between the friendly and unfriendly intestinal frora.
